About 28% of the STEM workforce is women and fewer than 1 out of 10 minority women are engineers and scientists.
In the programming industry, women made up about 42% in 1987 and programming used to be considered as a woman’s task. But as it became more complicated, the society shifted the work in men’s hands, stating that now it was beyond women’s abilities.
Whether society declared women capable for STEM careers, or later stated its contrary, a woman’s intellectual background would constantly be judged. And because of such, females were restrained from many fields.
Young women in middle school or high school are privatized from many activities simply by moral stratification. And while the system of opression keeps on occuring, many women do not stand up for themselves but now more are reunited. If not teaching girls of their true potential, the society will keep on denying all of their hard work.
